Hydrogen Sulfide, at room temperature is a colourless, flammable toxic gas with a strong odour, similar to that of rotten eggs.

 Exposure Limits   (As published under under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.)


 Exposure Effects Of Hydrogen Sulphide

At low concentrations, (20 to 50 ppm) Hydrogen Sulphide will irritate the eyes and upper respiratory tract, and may cause pulmonary edema in a prolonged exposure. Higher concentration will produce more serious effects including headache, dizziness and possibly bronchial pneumonia. Inhalation of concentrations above 600ppm can be fatal within 30 minutes of exposure or less.
